Say it Ain’t So: Playoff Blues

As I sit on the couch and watch all the playoff games unfold. I’m missing one thing, and that is the Atlanta Falcons. The twist and turns of the playoffs this season has come full circle and it shows with Jets advancing to the AFC Championship against the Colts. Mark Sanchez has been very impressive and has obviously thrown me off because coming out of the University of Southern California (USC), I thought Sanchez was going to be an alright football player, but seemingly he has turned into a Tom Brady type player and leads his team to victory each week. That whole Jets team has really shocked the world and I should be apologizing to Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez, and Derrelle Revis. The Broncos were a huge surprise this regular season, but only fell hard in the final games of the season. The New York Jets knew they controlled there fate and have been playing well ever since. Maybe, Derrelle Revis did deserve that award over Charles Woodson?

Emmit Thomas Will Not Be Back For The ‘10 Campaign

Longtime Falcons assistant coach Emmit Thomas will not be back for the 2010 season. The Falcons failed to renew his contract for the upcoming season. Emmit Thomas has had a long standing run with the Atlanta Falcons and dates back all the way to the Dan Reeves days. Thomas was the assistant head coach and secondary coach for this season. Obviously, there were many troubles in the secondary this season and that could relate to us not bringing back Mr. Thomas for next season. In the long haul, I think it was time for the Atlanta Falcons to move on. From the Dirty Bird Blog, we all wish Emmit Thomas good luck in the future for his dedicated work to the Atlanta Falcons, hard hours, and helping this young secondary get over the learning curve.

We Fly High!

The Falcons ended there season on a high note by beating the Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday. Jason Snelling played very well and that should be a player to watch for next year.

Not Even One?

The votes have been tallied up and it says the no Falcons will be in the Pro Bowl this year. What a shock, I thought Tony Gonzalez should have made it. If this happens, that no Falcons players do make the Pro Bowl, this will be the 6th time in franchise history that no Falcons players are representing in the Pro Bowl.

Falcons Reach .500

After a very tough win against the New York Jets, the Falcons are trying to end there season with a bang. With a favorable schedule up ahead the Falcons will be facing off against the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Bucs. With saying that, it looks like our season will finish with a 9-7 record. Overall, I’m not happy that we didn’t make the playoffs and from day one, I really thought this would be the year the Falcons could do some damage in the playoffs. It turns out that the offense is too high octane and the defense needs some work over the off season. Not to mention, all the injuries that hampered our team this season.
