Escaping The Inevitable
November 26th, 2009 | by Tupac4Congress |Escaping? This is a very tough task these days for the Atlanta Falcons, as day by day goes by, we lose an ounce more of playoff hope. This Thanksgiving Day, I will be thankful for the Atlanta Falcons. Why? Because we have the ability be persistent and hang with any other team out in the league.
I will be watching the New York Giants vs. Denver Broncos game today with very close eyes and am really hoping the Broncos can get it together and pull it out.
This week has been very hectic and there is nothing like taking some time out of my day to write to the Atlanta faithful.
First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to all the readers. Finally, don’t be on the wrong end of the stampede on Black Friday.
The highlights almost make me want to throw up. Matt Ryan is playing very well, Jason Snelling did very well for a first time start, and the offense just seemed to be clicking.
The question lies around the defense and I knew once the Giants won the coin flip to get the ball first in OT, that they had this game in the bag. The Falcons were literally picked apart by Eli Manning and that is even without Plax.
I hate to see the season come to this, 5-5 and on the outside looking in. What can the Falcons do you might ask, well since it is the holiday season, I will put a Falcons wish list together.
1. Who in the heck is going to be our kicker? Jason Elam is going through a big slump right now and were going to need to add a kicker right away. The Falcons brought in four kickers for tryouts and I have no clue who they are. Right now, I don’t trust somebody inexperienced to give us the boot to get in the playoffs. If we bring in a kicker, he needs to be somebody higher on the free agent list or I’d rather watch Jason Elam in a slump. Don’t get me wrong, Jason Elam has had a very good career, but could the Mile High conditions have factored into that career. Moving on!
2. We need Michael Turner back in the worst of ways. Michael Turner is the staple of this offense because he took so much pressure off the young QB in Matt Ryan. It’s funny because NFL Countdown did this stat and whenever Turner rushes over a 100 yards a game the Falcons have like a 80% chance to win. We need Michael Turner back and I’m hoping he can make an immediate impact when he returns.
3. The defense needs to get better. Eli Manning killed the Falcons last week and we can’t let it happen this week because we will be one game under .500. We have a very favorable schedule up ahead, so I really think the Falcons defense can get it together down the stretch.
Well there you have it Atlanta Falcons fans, there is my three wishes for the holidays and I’m just hoping these could come true.
With the schedule being light up ahead, I really see the Falcons going full steam into the playoffs. But, for next time, Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy!
