Another Game, Another Loss In The Books!

December 14th, 2009 | by Tupac4Congress |

The title says it all! With the 2009-2010 season coming to a close the Falcons have yet to make an impact in the playoff race, ultimately forcing them out of the playoffs. Basically, our shots are slim to none, but if the Giants lose out and we win out, the Falcons will be high rising. But, even if that happened, the Falcons would have to hope for other games to happen. Without Matt Ryan, the Falcons are leader less? Don’t get me wrong, I congratulate Chris Redman on a very good performance yesterday and I’m really shocked that we didn’t get blown out of the water.

Beyond belief, Chris Redman showed why he is a bench warmer yesterday, forcing the issue at the end of the game. Matt Ryan would be somebody that I would want to give the ball to at the end of the game, not Chris Redman. To bad Matt Ryan was out for this one.

Jonathan Vilma, was what I like to call, “The Closer”. Vilma picked off the Falcons toward the end of the game and tackled Jason Snelling nearly in the back field to seal the deal for the Saints to keep there undefeated hopes alive. I haven’t seen Vilma play that well in a while, even when he was back at the “U” (University of Miami). I still remember that defense, by the way, the defense was absolutely disgusting.

There is nothing more than I can say about this Atlanta Falcons football team. So much, so very much, was to be won this season, but in the end there may have been too much hype surrounding the team. I really don’t think we can blame it on the team, but rather the injuries that hampered the team. Who knew? Matt Ryan was going to get hurt late in the season. Who knew? Michael Turner would be on the sideline with him. Who knew? The Falcons defense would be this bad in the season. Nobody knows, but we can only hold our heads high for this season and look forward to next year, perhaps a new year.

But, one thing I can say with proud honor is that we may have found a kicker in the long haul and that is Matt Bryant. He did a fabolous job in kicking the field goals yesterday and even left with no kicks missed. On offense, I can be proud to say that Michael Jenkins might have finally gotten out of his shell, Jenkins played very well for himself and he had a heck of a game. On defense, it’s the rookie out of Cal, and that is none other than Thomas DeCoud. Decoud looks to have a very bright future in his hands and I’m exicted to see him develop in Atlanta.

As of right now, the Falcons hopes of the playoffs are quickly fading in the air. Personally, I’d hate to see us lose, but I’m a Falcons fan for the long haul and it wouldn’t be a bad thing if we got a better pick in the draft. Just saying!
